KML & Other data formats
What are KML and KMZ files?
KML and KMZ files are types of XML files that represent geographic data. Got that? No. Okay, lets make this more simple. KML and KMZ files are user generated files that can be created by and used in Google Maps and Google Earth. The data in the files represents places and their characteristics. The benefit of using KML and KMZ files (and Google Earth) are numerous: being able to see Parati Green Map, high resolution imagery, community photos, local tips, and find and create lots of other content like political awareness, search and rescue, or creating your own content .
We decided to go with this technology for our Green Map because it offers an easy and accessible way for people to access our map and use our data. You can download our files below or from the Google server.
You'll need to download Google Earth to see them. Since all internet browsers are different... it is best to save kml files using "save target as" or "save link as". Have fun!
